Setting up shop with 210 Bangladeshi businesswomenJun 2023
Transform TradeCharity Partner
The money you donated in June will help set up 7 female-owned community stores in Bangladesh each run by 30 women.
Over 11% of the country’s population live in extreme poverty. Our project will be a route out for these 210 women who will receive funding and support to start their own local convenience store.
Armed with training in sales, marketing, enterprise, governance and management the co-owners will have everything they need to create a one-stop-shop selling groceries, snacks, cosmetics and local products.
As the business grows, the money they make will benefit them and their families for decades to come while the new stores will be a life-line to the local communities who will be used to travelling for over 30 minutes for such conveniences.
Transform Trade works for trade and climate justice in the UK and developing world.
Their projects in South Asia and East Africa use the power of trade to solve real life problems by empowering communities to build their own businesses. This sustainable approach seeks out local skills and talent, injects the right tools and education, and supports until their help is no longer needed at all.
