Training 15 Stove Installers to Bring Clean Cooking to 900 People in Kenya

While many of us were well-fed and warm over the Christmas break, your final donation of 2025 was already on its way to helping rural families in Kericho, Kenya create safer, healthier homes and kitchens of their own with affordable, smokeless cooking stoves with Friends of Kipkelion.
In Kericho, most households cook inside their homes over costly open wood fires, filling living spaces with smoke that causes eye infections and serious lung disease, especially for women and children.
The £3,361.08 raised through our community (topped up by an extra £1,000 from the Eleanor Rathbone Charitable Trust) will train 15 local people to build and install stoves, using local materials and techniques to keep costs low and skills within the community. Each installer will fit a free stove for a very poor family, bringing immediate relief to 75 people who need it most.
Once trained, these newly qualified installers will continue their work throughout the year, reaching an estimated 900 people in 2026 with cleaner, safer, more affordable cooking.
Thank you for helping us start 2026 with real, lasting change.
