Funding solar panels on a health centre in the DRC
Jan 2018
Our January 1% will provide solar panels for a health centre visited by internally displaced people in the Democratic Republic of Congo where violence has displaced over 3 million people who are now living in extreme poverty.
The centre is being built in Kasindi, an urbanisation of around 50,000 people close to the Ugandan border. It will offer vaccinations, tropical disease treatment, family planning, sexual health and maternity services with specialist equipment, a theatre and 2 wards as well as 10 staff. Our 1% will provide clean, green energy to keep everything going allowing the centre to improve the lives of an estimated 15,000 people over 3 years.
