10,000 Cocoa Farmers Gain a Voice with Farmers’ Radio

This April, your support gave 10,000 cocoa farmers in Ghana the tools to farm smarter, earn more, and protect their environment, all through the power of radio.
Working with the Lorna Young Foundation and Farmers Voice Radio, we trained 10 cocoa farmer cooperatives to create local-language radio programmes. These programmes share essential knowledge on sustainable farming, climate resilience, and the risks of child labour, empowering farmers to make informed decisions.
Your generosity is helping farmers secure better livelihoods and protect the future of cocoa farming for generations. Thank you for amplifying their voices!
The impact doesn’t stop there. These broadcasts will indirectly reach 200,000 farmers, creating ripples of change across Ghana’s cocoa communities.
The Lorna Young Foundation (LYF) is a small UK-based charity established in memory of Lorna Young, a pioneer of fair trade. The foundation’s vision is to eradicate poverty by improving social inclusion, protecting the environment, and strengthening the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. LYF achieves this by promoting ethical trade in the UK and improving access to information and markets for farmers in low-income countries. One of its key initiatives, Farmers’ Voice Radio (FVR), aims to transform the lives of millions of smallholder farmers by producing radio programmes that deliver essential farming information in local languages.
