Your January 2025 support helped us team up with SolarAid to light up the lives of 1,651 people in rural Malawi. Thanks to you, over 300 solar lights have been distributed, helping families swap hazardous kerosene lamps for clean, safe, and affordable solar energy.

In Mchinji, one of Malawi’s poorest districts, this project trained women entrepreneurs to sell solar lights, bringing light, income, and opportunity to their communities. With solar lights, families now have brighter nights: children can study longer, households can save on fuel costs, and women are gaining financial independence by running solar businesses.

Each light is a beacon of hope for a family, empowering them to focus on education, health, and brighter futures. Thank you for being the spark that ignited this transformation in Mchinji!

SolarAid is an international charity founded in 2006 to combat poverty and climate change. Through  social enterprise, Sunny Money they provide access to solar lights in Malawi and Zambia to help catalyse solar markets with renewable light. 590 million people in Africa alone have no access to electricity. Without electricity families have no clean source of light, leaving millions to rely on expensive and dangerous alternatives. Solar lights are safe, clean and affordable. It is a small, but smart innovation that gives off hours of light in the evening so families can earn, learn and feel safe after dark. Just one lamp can transform the future for an entire family and is the first step out of poverty.
