This month, we are proud to support the Sylvia Lanka Foundation’s Kaudulla Community Farm project, which aims to empower communities in Sri Lanka. This initiative focuses on sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, and economic revitalisation.
The need for support in this region is critical. Sri Lanka is currently facing significant challenges, including economic hardship and food insecurity, worsened by recent crises. Many families struggle to meet their basic needs, with women often bearing the greatest hardships. This project directly addresses these issues by equipping communities with the tools and knowledge to grow their own food, improve livelihoods, and strengthen resilience.
3,500 families will establish small gardens, 650 women will gain skills in labour management and sustainable farming and 500 students will engage in eco-friendly farming education - fostering future environmental stewards.
The Sylvia Lanka Foundation stands as a beacon of hope for communities in Sri Lanka since its inception in 2005. Rooted in a commitment to positive change, the foundation empowers marginalised groups by facilitating access to essential services, education, medicine, and economic opportunities. Through initiatives like scholarships, healthcare provision, and agricultural support, the foundation addresses the underlying causes of poverty and inequality, forging partnerships with local stakeholders to implement sustainable solutions.
